As a biochemist in graduate school I remember hearing the professors in the chemistry department making snide comments about the liberal arts departments which never brought in any money. Apparently the chemistry department had to share its hard-earned money to keep the English building’s lights on. It seems like an age-old argument, one that I hope the Liberal Arts keep winning.
